This expedition to Nyiragongo Volcano has been rated as one of the best volcano tours in Africa. The tour will visit the impressive Virunga mountain range, and climb to the summit of Nyiragongo volcano.
The expedition will set up camp on the summit crater, and make observations of the lava lake (if present). Lava lakes are regularly present in the craters. In 2002 Nyiragongo volcano erupted, and lava flowed through the city of Goma. This was resulted in the evacuation of 500,000 people.
